Refugee Week 2019: Lords to consider the impact of Brexit for refugees and asylum seekers
On Wednesday 19th June the House of Lords EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee will hear evidence from Refugee Rights Europe and the Migration Policy Institute Europe as part of its ongoing inquiry investigating the future of UK-EU asylum cooperation.
As the UK marks Refugee Week, the evidence session will consider what the key concerns and priorities of the EU institutions and Member States are likely to be in negotiating any future UK-EU agreement on asylum cooperation. The Committee will explore how the rest of Europe views the UK's asylum policies, and whether the UK is considered to be doing its fair share in providing protection to asylum seekers and refugees in Europe.
The evidence session will begin at 11.15am in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords. The Committee will question:

- Dr Hanne Beirens, Acting Director, Migration Policy Institute Europe
The Committee are likely to ask other questions on:
- Future EU policy on asylum
- Attitudes towards asylum seekers in Europe
- EU preparations for asylum cooperation in the event of a ‘no deal' Brexit
- Future UK-EU cooperation on reuniting refugee families
- Implications of Brexit for UK border cooperation with France and Belgium
