Brexit: Common Security and Defence Policy missions and operations report to be debated in the Lords
On Wednesday 15 May 2019 the House of Lords will debate the EU External Affairs Sub-Committee's report, Brexit: Common Security and Defence Policy missions and operations, which was published on 14 May 2018.
The report concludes that while the UK may be able to continue to participate in CSDP missions and operations after Brexit, it will not have the influence it currently enjoys in the development, planning and leadership of missions and operations.
Expected to speak in the upcoming debate are:
- Lord Horam, on behalf of the Chair of the EU External Affairs Sub-Committee, Baroness Verma
- Lord Arbuthnot of Edrom
- Baroness Helic
- Lord Bishop of Portsmouth
- Earl of Sandwich
- Baroness Suttie
- Lord Tunnicliffe
Earl Howe will respond on behalf of the Government.
The debate is expected to start at some point after 3.30pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019.
