Gambling addiction, health and debt: Problem gamblers to speak to Lords Committee


The House of Lords Select Committee on the Social and Economic Impact of Gambling will hear from five people with experience of problem gambling on Tuesday 8 October at 3.20pm in Committee Room 4. 

The witnesses will be invited to talk about their experiences, with the Committee hoping to better understand:

  • How gambling addictions develop
  • Any relationship between childhood gambling and problem gambling in adulthood
  • The impact of gambling on health
  • The impact of gambling on family and relationships
  • The role of advertising
  • Use of credit cards and debt
  • Treatment and reluctance to seek help
