Peers ask “What shouldn’t be protected online by the right of freedom of expression?”

The House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee continues to hear evidence on freedom of expression online tomorrow (Tuesday 8 December from 3.00 p.m.).

The committee will hear from:

Possible questions and topics for discussion include:

  • What should not be protected by the right to freedom of expression online?
  • How well do platforms’ policies balance freedom of expression with other rights?
  • Does reducing the reach of harmful content without removing it infringe the right to freedom of expression?
  • How well does UK law balance freedom of expression with other rights
  • Is there adequate support for victims of online abuse?
