Lords Committee to hear from National Farmers Union on Sustainability and retailers on healthy eating
The House of Lords Committee on Food, Poverty, Health and the Environment will next week take evidence from the National Farmers' Union and the Soil Association on sustainability in farming, and from Sainsburys, the Nationwide Caterers Association and the British Retail Consortium on promoting a healthier eating environment.
The Committee, which is looking at how a healthier and more environmentally sustainable diet can be made accessible to everyone and what changes to food policy, the industry and existing measures can achieve this.
The evidence session will start at 10:40am on Tuesday 3 March in Committee Room 2A of the House of Lords. The full witness details are:

The first session will explore the relationship between food production and public health, the challenges of producing food in an environmentally sustainable way and the steps that can be taken to make healthier food available to everyone.
The second session will cover the responsibilities of the retail and catering industries toward promoting public health and the role of product placements and promotions in encouraging unhealthy food choices.
