Lords committee to hear first evidence on lessons for public services from COVID-19
Peers on the House of Lords Public Services Committee will hear from experts tomorrow (Wednesday 3 June) in its first public evidence session.
The committee, set up to examine the transformation of public services to ensure that they are fit for the 21st century, launched its public Call for Evidence last week and will look into what the COVID-19 experience can tell us about the future role, priorities and shape of public services.

- Professor Nick Pearce, Director, Institute for Policy Research
Questions are likely to include:
- What are the main areas of public service success and failure during the Covid-19 outbreak, and how could these lessons shape a future programme for reform?
- Have we seen innovation and new ways of working in the delivery of public services as a result of coronavirus?
- Did public services have the digital skills and technology required to respond to the crisis?

Questions are likely to include:
- Have public services worked well together during the lockdown?
- To what extent have we seen new ways of working together since the epidemic began, and to what extent has collaboration built on pre-existing networks?
- To what extent has any disjointedness between service providers placed burdens on public services during the lockdown?
