Peers to quiz Lord Chief Justice on courts and Covid-19

The House of Lords Constitution Committee will consider the operation of the court system during the COVID-19 pandemic when it holds an evidence session with the Lord Chief Justice at 10 a.m. on Wednesday 13 May.

Questions and areas of discussion are likely to include:

  • How are courts operating during the pandemic?
  • How have access to justice, participation in proceedings, transparency and media reporting been affected?
  • How will the justice system manage the growing backlog of criminal cases
  • Should we rethink the jury system during the pandemic and beyond, and if so how?

The session will be held on Zoom and can be followed on Parliament TV
