Peers to quiz Lord Chief Justice on courts and Covid-19
The House of Lords Constitution Committee will consider the operation of the court system during the COVID-19 pandemic when it holds an evidence session with the Lord Chief Justice at 10 a.m. on Wednesday 13 May.
Questions and areas of discussion are likely to include:
- How are courts operating during the pandemic?
- How have access to justice, participation in proceedings, transparency and media reporting been affected?
- How will the justice system manage the growing backlog of criminal cases
- Should we rethink the jury system during the pandemic and beyond, and if so how?
