Food sector stakeholders to give evidence on post-Brexit common frameworks

The House of Lords Common Frameworks Scrutiny Committee will tomorrow question stakeholders representing different parts of the food sector, and from different parts of the UK, on the internal market, the Northern Ireland Protocol and trade agreements.
The session will take place virtually on Tuesday 24 November at 10:15am and can be followed on Parliament TV.
Giving evidence will be:
- Geoff Ogle, Chief Executive of Food Standards Scotland
- Aodhán Connolly, Director of the Northern Ireland Retail Consortium
- Huw Rhys Thomas, Political Adviser at NFU Cymru
Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:
- What are the areas of concern around the potential fragmentation of the UK internal market after the end of the transition period?
- To what extent does the Internal Market Bill provide greater certainty and reassurance for businesses?
- Are there concerns about how the Internal Market Bill could interact with the food safety framework specifically?
- How significant are the risks of future divergence between Northern Ireland and Great Britain?
- Are there any concerns around the future UK internal market operating with respect to trade agreements?
