Lords Committees taking evidence on UK-Norway Fisheries Agreement

The House of Lords International Agreements Sub-Committee, along with the EU Environment Sub-Committee, are today seeking evidence on the recently published UK-Norway Fisheries Framework Agreement.
The new agreement put in place between the UK and Norway is intended to help secure continued fishing opportunities for the UK’s fishing fleet following Brexit, but needs scrutiny to ensure it does that effectively. North Sea stocks will now need to be jointly managed by the UK, Norway and the EU in a trilateral relationship, and this agreement is only a part of the framework for that new process.
Call for evidence timing:
The committee is asking for submissions of written evidence to be received by 5pm on Friday 30 October, a short turnaround due to constraints of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010, which limits the time for effective treaty scrutiny.

The Committee’s welcome broad responses to the published deal, as well as specific responses about how this Framework might affect the further trilateral talks with the EU, and what this deal achieves for UK fishing.
