Creative industries to give evidence to Lords EU Committee on Brexit

This session will focus on the creative industries.

This inquiry is examining the impact of the provisions set out in the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) on the UK’s services sector.

At 10am the Committee will hear from:

• Cortina Butler, Deputy Director of Arts, British Council
• Harriet Finney, Director of External Affairs, British Film Institute

Horace Trubridge, General Secretary, Musicians' Union.

This session will be held remotely and streamed on Parliament TV.

Questions the Committee is likely to ask include:

• Does the UK leaving the EU with a deal have an impact on the creative industries?
• How much does your sector rely on the ability to undertake short-term business trips to the EU and/or move personnel between the UK and EU?
• What effect will the TCA’s arrangements on the mobility of professionals have on the creative industries?
• What will be the impact for the sector of the UK no longer participating in EU funding programmes such as Creative Europe?
• There is an absence of provisions on audio-visual services in the Agreement. What impact will this have on the UK’s TV and film sectors?
• How important are UK-EU arrangements on intellectual property for your sector and other creative industries?
• What role does the free flow of data between the UK and EU play in trade in your sector?
• What effect may national reservations to the Agreement have on trade with the EU in the creative industries sector?
