On Tuesday 20 July 2021 the House of Lords Youth Unemployment Committee will be taking evidence from the Minister for Employment, Mims Davies MP.
This evidence session, which will start at 10.15am, will be held remotely and streamed on Parliament TV.
Topics the committee is likely to cover include:

- The information available to employers and young people on the variety of schemes and programmes available such as Kickstart placements and SWAPs.
- The stigma attached to visiting to a Jobcentre and the issue of ‘hidden’ NEET young people.
- Whether current Universal Credit rules disincentivise young people on benefits from accessing education or training.
- The success of Kickstart in helping young people to prepare for and secure sustained employment.
- How to encourage more employers to offer work experience opportunities.
- How the DWP ensures that young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those from particular ethnic minority groups or those with additional needs or disabilities, are effectively targeted by its policies.
