Biodiversity: Environment Minister to be quizzed about Britain’s UN conference aims

Environment Minister Lord Goldsmith will face questions in the first public evidence session of the new House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee tomorrow (Tuesday 15 June at 10.00 a.m.) as it launches a new inquiry.
The minister will be asked about the government’s priorities for and expectations of the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15) due to be held in China later this year.
The committee will hear also (at 11.15 a.m.) from the following experts and campaigners about global biodiversity losses and lessons from Strategic Plan for Biodiversity targets set previously:
- Dr Braulio Ferreira de Souza Dias, former Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity
- Professor Sandra Díaz, Professor of Community and Ecosystems Ecology, National University of Cordoba
- Friedrich Wulf, International Nature Campaigner, Friends of the Earth Europe
The session will be broadcast live on Parliament TV.
