Tuesday 16 March 2021
Peers will probe the Government’s ‘levelling up’ strategy with journalists and ministers tomorrow (Wednesday 17 March from 10.00 a.m.).
The House of Lords Public Services Committee will look at levelling up, social infrastructure and public services when it hears from:

- How fair are criticisms of the Government’s Levelling Up Fund methodology and allocation?
- Do you think there is a joined-up approach across Government?
- How important is it that Government involves local community groups and the voluntary sector in its strategy?
At 11.00 a.m.
- Gillian Keegan, Minister for Apprenticeships and Skills
- Jo Churchill, Minister for Prevention, Public Health and Primary Care
Likely questions and areas of discussion include:
- Who is leading across Government on ‘levelling up’? Is there a joined-up approach between Departments?
- What criteria will your departments use to measure the effectiveness of investment in ‘left behind’ areas?
- What role will investment in public services, and public services reform, play in the strategy?
- What role should investment in early intervention and preventative services play in achieving the aims of the strategy?
The virtual session will be live on Parliament TV.
