Lords to quiz experts and campaigners on Citizens Rights in UK and EU
Monday 24 May 2021
Tomorrow, the House of Lords European Affairs Committee will start its short inquiry into citizens’ rights, following the UK’s departure from the EU.
The sessions will focus on the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement’s Citizens’ Rights provisions in the UK and EU member states. This includes whether it supports vulnerable individuals, whether citizens have been given enough time, information and support to register to access their rights in the UK or EU within the permitted time, and especially given the COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes ahead of the 30 June deadline for applications to the UK’s EU Settlement Scheme, as well as equivalent deadlines in five EU member states on the same day.
The online evidence session will take place from 4pm on Tuesday 25 May 2021 and can be viewed on Parliament TV
