Energy market regulator and net zero on Lords agenda

During the session, the committee will talk to representatives from the Danish Energy Agency and International Energy Agency, to gain an insight into energy markets and regulation outside the UK.

Secondly, the committee will discuss issues facing Ofgem and its ability to effectively regulate the UK energy system with leaders at the National Grid and National Grid ESO, the separate electricity system operator.

The committee’s inquiry focuses on the remit and responsibilities of energy regulator, Ofgem, and in particular, its role in achieving net zero by 2050.
