Minister Lord Goldsmith to answer scientific and policy questions around nature-based solutions for climate change

At 11am on Tuesday 30 November, the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will hold its final evidence session for its inquiry into nature-based solutions for climate change.
This will be an opportunity for Lord Goldsmith the Minister of State for the Pacific and the International Environment to address scientific and policy questions raised by witnesses to the Committee during the inquiry.
The Committee will also ask the Minister to assess progress towards the Government’s targets for nature-based solutions, what support is available to encourage the adoption of nature-based solutions and whether the Government’s policies are sufficient to meet the targets it has set itself.
The session will take place at 11am on Tuesday 30 November 2021 in Committee Room 4 and will be available to watch live or on demand at Parliament TV.

- Professor Gideon Henderson, Chief Scientific Adviser at Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Possible question areas include:
- The Government’s headline targets for trees, peatlands, agriculture and marine nature-based solutions, and progress towards meeting them
- Scientific uncertainties for nature-based solutions raised by previous witnesses
- Understanding and maximising co-benefits for nature-based solutions
- The skills, training, and information gaps for nature-based solutions
