Changes to House of Lords business for tributes to Sir David Amess MP
Monday 18 October 2021
Following the tragic death of Sir David Amess MP on Friday, today’s business in the House of Lords Chamber has changed.
The House will sit at 2.30pm as scheduled for prayers, followed immediately by a minute’s silence led by the Lord Speaker, Lord McFall of Alcluith. Oral questions will then take place. After oral questions there will be a short adjournment and then at 4pm an opportunity for members to pay tribute to Sir David, opening with a tribute from the Lord Speaker.
There will not be a speakers’ list. There will be no further business in the Chamber on Monday. All scheduled business will be re-arranged.
The House will adjourn by around 5.30pm and a special service of Prayer and Remembrance will take place in St Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey at 6pm. There will be a joint procession from Parliament to the Abbey led by Mr Speaker and the Lord Speaker.
