Environment minister Lord Goldsmith to be quizzed on cross-Government COP26 preparations

The Defra and FCDO Minister, the Rt Hon Lord Goldsmith of Richmond Park, and the CEO of COP26, Peter Hill, will give evidence on Thursday 14 October 2021 to the House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee’s Delivering COP26 across Government inquiry.

This evidence session, which will start at 10am, will be streamed live on Parliament TV. It will also be broadcast on the BBC’s Parliament Channel.

The Committee are likely to ask about the steps the Government has been taking to ensure that all departments are:

  • embedding climate change considerations in their processes
  • developing climate-credible policies, and
  • contributing to a successful COP26 outcome.


More about this inquiry

COP26 is the twenty-sixth UN Climate Change conference. The UK holds the presidency of the event, which is due to take place in Glasgow in November 2021. This inquiry is exploring the steps the Government is taking to ensure that all departments are embedding climate change considerations in their processes, developing climate-credible policies, and contributing to a successful COP26 outcome.
