Industry and Regulators Committee to hear from experts on costs of net zero
Monday 6 September 2021
The House of Lords Committee on Industry and Regulators will tomorrow hear from the Climate Change Committee and the National Infrastructure Commission on the likely economic and environmental impact of the Government’s net zero carbon commitments.
The evidence session will be held remotely and will start at 10:30am on Tuesday 7 September. It can be followed live and on demand at www.parliamentlive.tv
Giving evidence to the Committee will be:
10:30am
- Chris Stark, Chief Executive, Climate Change Committee
- Mike Thompson, Chief Economist/Head of Analysis, Climate Change Committee
11:30am
- John Richardson, Chief Economist, National Infrastructure Commission
- Daniel Grosvenor, Renewables Leader, UK Deloitte
The first session will cover the likely economic costs of achieving net zero by 2050 and the potential costs of not meeting the target, as well as how the investment to fund net zero should be divided between consumers and the taxpayer, and how the transition to net zero should be regulated.
In the second session the Committee will question what areas of Government policy are likely to have the most significant impact on achieving net zero, and the potential impacts of a net zero energy system.
