Comedian and television personality Joe Lycett to give evidence to Fraud Committee inquiry

Tuesday 5 April 2022

On Thursday 7 April 2022, the Lords Committee on the Fraud Act 2006 and Digital Fraud will take evidence from comedian and television personality Joe Lycett and producer Michelle Cox, both of the Channel 4 programme ‘Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back’.

This evidence session will be streamed on Parliament TV.

Questions the committee is likely to cover in this session include:

  • What types of fraud is your programme contacted about the most? What common scams are people writing to you about?
  • Why do you think fraud is so widespread? Is it too easy to commit fraud without fear or risk of being prosecuted?
  • You often make a point on the programme of criticising the response to fraud from big business. Are there any sectors in particular you think are not doing enough to stop fraud and help victims?
  • What impact does fraud have on the lives of victims, both financially and in terms of their health and wellbeing?
  • What do you think could be done better to protect victims from the types of scams you explore on your programme?
  •  What has surprised you most about fraud and scams in the UK during the production of your programme?
