Fraud Committee to kick off inquiry with first evidence session

On Thursday 24 February 2022 the House of Lords Committee on the Fraud Act 2006 and Digital Fraud will hold its first public evidence session with officials from the Ministry of Justice and the Home Office.
This evidence session will be held remotely and streamed on Parliament TV.
At 9.30am the Committee will hear evidence from:
- Duncan Tessier, Economic Crime Director, Home Office
- Euan Neill, Head of Fraud Pursue and Law Enforcement, Home Office
- Alice Adamson, Director for Victims and Vulnerability Policy, Ministry of Justice.
Topics the Committee is likely to cover include:
- The most significant fraud risks facing individuals and businesses in the UK today.
- Effectiveness of current anti-fraud policies in combatting the highly digitised business models of criminal activity.
- How government departments work with non-governmental departments and agencies such as the Serious Fraud Office, National Crime Agency and City of London Police.
- Engagement with external stakeholders such as consumer groups, industry bodies and victims when designing and implementing fraud policy.
- Fraud associated with COVID-19 support schemes.
