Lords and Commons committees to quiz George Eustice MP and Lord Goldsmith of Richmond Park on COP15

Friday 17 June

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will join forces with the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee next week to question Government Ministers as part of its scrutiny into the Government’s approach to COP15, the international biodiversity conference.

Monday 20 June – 3.30pm to 5.30pm

  • Rt Hon George Eustice MP, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
  • Rt Hon Lord Goldsmith of Richmond Park, Minister for the Pacific and the International Environment, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The session can be followed live on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 4a, Palace of Westminster.

Members will ask questions on a range of areas including:

  • progress achieved in the COP15 subsidiary bodies
  • the Forests, Agriculture and Commodity Trade (FACT) dialogue
  • the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework text
  • translating progress from COP26 to COP15
  • progress on key sticking points
  • the role of business in the framework
  • free trade agreements
  • protecting UK Overseas Territories biodiversity.
