Impact of Brexit on UK-EU financial services: an international perspective

On Tuesday 15 March the House of Lords European Affairs Committee will hold the third evidence session of its inquiry into the UK-EU relationship in financial services.

During this session, the Committee will hear from a panel of client advice specialists with a particular focus on international perspectives.

  • Andrew Pilgrim, UK Government and Financial Services Leader at EY  

The evidence session will take place at 4.00pm on Tuesday 15 March and can be viewed live on Parliament TV.

Topics likely to be covered in this evidence session include: 

  • The impact of Brexit so far on the UK financial services industry, across different sub-sectors (including the extent of any movement of people, assets, and infrastructure out of the UK);

  • EU, US, and other international perspectives on the changes underway in the UK-EU financial services relationship;

  • The future of UK-EU financial services trade in the absence of equivalence;

  • UK-EU regulatory co-operation, particularly in the absence of a functioning framework for co-operation as envisaged when the TCA was signed;

  • UK-EU divergence on financial services, particularly through regulatory divergence and UK agreements with other partners; and

  • Post-Brexit opportunities for the sector and for different financial centers across the UK.
