Lords Committee to examine local delivery of public services

The House of Lords Public Services Committee will hear from local government leads and the charity sector in two evidence sessions taking place tomorrow - Wednesday 23 March as part of its ongoing inquiry examining how to develop a sustainable public services workforce fit for the future.
The sessions will start at 3pm and can be watched live or on demand at Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.
Giving evidence will be;
3.00 pm
- Jon Rowney, Executive Director, Corporate Services, Camden;
- Joanne Roney OBE, President, Solace, and Chief Executive, Manchester City Council and;
- Simon Cameron, Chief Officer, Employers' Team, Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA).
4.00pm
- Duncan Shrubsole, Director of Policy Communications and Research, Lloyds Bank Foundation for England and Wales and;
- Andrew O’Brien, Director of Public Affairs at Social Enterprise UK.
Questions will include:
- What models and techniques do you use to approach workforce planning?
- How can workforce planning better support the integration of public services?
- How are service users and people with lived experience included in workforce planning?
- What are the key barriers to workforce integration, and how could the third sector help address these?
- What support does the public services workforce need to address barriers to integrating public services delivery?
- How can we ensure that digital tools are deployed where they are most effective? What training does the workforce need to make better use of digital tools, for example for data sharing?
