Lord Chief Justice to give evidence to Lords committee

The House of Lords Constitution Committee will tomorrow be holding its annual evidence session with the Lord Chief Justice, the Rt Hon the Lord Burnett of Maldon, Lord Chief Justice and Head of the Judiciary of England and Wales, and the President of the Courts of England and Wales.
Topics that may arise include:
- The current state of the backlogs in the court system
- The recruitment of judges by the Ministry of Justice
- The Ministry of Justice’s spending review settlement
- Access to justice
- Post-pandemic reforms, including the use of online procedures
- Judicial diversity
- The role of the Lord Chancellor and Law Officers
The session will take place on Wednesday 18 May at 10:15 AM and can be followed on Parliament TV.
