Lords to question Minister for Levelling Up on how success will be measured and other aspects of the programme
Tuesday 24 May 2022
Tomorrow – Wednesday 25 May, the House of Lords Public Services Committee will take evidence from Neil O’Brien MP, Minister for Levelling Up, the Union and Constitution. The session will be an in-depth discussion about various aspects of the Levelling Up programme including monitoring and measuring success and empowering local and regional bodies.
It follows previous work on this topic: the Committee’s letter to the Prime Minister last year called for clarity and “significantly more money over a longer period” than had then been planned.
The session will start at 4pm and can be watched live or on demand at Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.
Giving evidence will be;
4.00pm
Neil O'Brien MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (Minister for Levelling Up, The Union and Constitution), Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC); and
• Will Garton, Director General, DLUHC.
Questions will include:
- What role do public services play in improving people’s access to economic opportunity? How are public services being considered in levelling up?
- How are you ensuring efforts to level up the UK prioritise the most in need places in the country?
- How will you monitor progress towards the ambitious goals set?
- How will you empower local and regional bodies?
