Built Environment Committee begins new infrastructure inquiry

Monday 28 November 2022

At 10.30am on Tuesday 29 November 2022, the House of Lords Built Environment Committee will hear evidence from Richard Threlfall, KPMG International’s Global Head of Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare.

This is part of the Committee’s new short inquiry on infrastructure policymaking and implementation in central government.

This evidence session, which is open to the public, will be held in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords and streamed live on Parliament TV.

Topics likely to be covered in this session include:

  1. How the Government defines infrastructure.
  2. The working relationship between the National Infrastructure Commission, Infrastructure and Projects Authority, HM Treasury, and the Cabinet Office.
  3. How decisions are made on the need for infrastructure development and the value for money of different projects.
  4. Whether the National Infrastructure Commission’s lack of independence has made a difference.
  5. The effectiveness of central government’s supervision of infrastructure project implementation.

The Committee’s work can be followed on its website and via Twitter.
