Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee to hear from industry representatives about Boiler Upgrade Scheme

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will continue its inquiry into the Boiler Upgrade Scheme on Wednesday 23 November by getting an industry perspective on the scheme and how it supports the switch to low-carbon heat.
The session can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 4, Palace of Westminster.
Giving evidence at 10am will be:
- Alex Schoch, Head of Flexibility, Octopus Energy
- Ovo Energy
Giving evidence at 11am will be:
- Lee Brown, Operations Director, IMS Heat Pumps
- Bean Beanland, Director for Growth & External Affairs, Heat Pump Federation (HPF)
- Mike Foster, Chief Executive, Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA)
Questions the committee are likely to ask include:
- How well do heat pumps perform in a real-world environment?
- What are the pros and cons of the current design and administration of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
- What do you see to be the role of energy suppliers in the transition to low-carbon home heating?
- What is the pipeline of new certified installers and assessors, and what needs to be done to ensure the workforce is in place to meet the Government’s 2028 target for 600,000 heat pump installations?
