Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee to hear from Office for Environmental Protection

Friday 11 November 2022

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will hear from the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) on Wednesday 16 November.

Giving evidence will be:

  • Dame Glenys Stacey, Chair of OEP
  • Natalie Prosser, CEO of OEP

The one-off session will take place from 10am. It can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room TBC).

Questions the committee are likely to ask include:

  • What challenges have you faced in getting the OEP up and running, and how have you found a balance between the different core functions and prioritising issues in the OEP’s first year?
  • What role do you see the Environmental Targets under the Environment Act playing, and what impact does the delay to their publication have on environmental protection?
  • What needs to be in place for the Environmental Principles Policy Statement and wider coordination of environmental policy to be delivered across government?
  • Which reform proposals from across Government are you following most closely?
  • How satisfied are you with the operation of the OEP’s enforcement function so far and the enforcement powers available to you?
  • What are your main priorities for the coming period?
