Short-term lettings inquiry: how can the sector be better regulated?

On Tuesday 8 November 2022, the House of Lords Built Environment Committee will hear more evidence on the impact of short-term lettings, such as Airbnb. This session will focus on options for regulation.

This session is part of the committee’s short inquiry on this topic.

At 10.20am the Committee will hear from:

  • Councillor Matt Noble, Cabinet Member for Climate, Regeneration and Renters, Westminster City Council
  • Councillor Judy Pearce, Leader of Council, South Hams District Council.

This evidence session, which is open to the public, will be held in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords and streamed on Parliament TV.

Topics likely to be covered in this session include:

  • Scale of short-term lets (STLs)
  • Positive and negative effects of an increase in STLs.
  • The Government’s proposals for a register of holiday accommodation, including STLs.
  • Other options available for the regulation and/or management of STLs.
