Systemic risk: Lords economics committee to take evidence on protecting the public from financial instability

At 4pm on Tuesday 22 November the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee will be taking evidence on systemic risk from:
- Sir Paul Tucker, Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and former Chair of the Systemic Risk Council
- Erkki Liikanen, Co-Chair of the Systemic Risk Council and former Governor of the Bank of Finland.
The meeting will be held in Committee Room 4A of the House of Lords. It will also be streamed live on Parliament TV.
Topics the committee is likely to cover in this session include:
- Greatest sources of risk to the global financial system.
- Whether the recent Bank of England intervention to support LDI funds was a realisation of a systemic risk.
- Volatility of cryptocurrencies.
- Increased sovereign credit risk.
- How UK authorities could mitigate the impact of risks created by non-bank financial institutions.
