Lord Frost and Lord Mandelson to give evidence to Lords European Affairs Committee

At 4pm on Tuesday 11 October the House of Lords European Affairs Committee will hear from former Brexit negotiator Lord Frost and former minister and EU Commissioner Lord Mandelson.
This is the Committee’s first evidence session of its new inquiry examining the overarching state of the post-Brexit UK-EU relationship and how it might be improved in the future.
Topics the Committee is likely to cover in this session include:
- The overall state of the current relationship between the UK and the EU.
- How the institutional structures under the Withdrawal Agreement and the TCA have operated since they were signed.
- Potential benefits of holding regular UK-EU summit-level meetings.
- Approach the Government should take to meetings of the European Political Community.
- Impact of the UK’s departure from the EU on foreign, defence and security policy coordination between the UK and the EU.
- Effectiveness of cooperation between the UK and the EU in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
