The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee will hear from students and University administrators, as it give evidence before the Lords Economic Affairs Committee. (OfS), the regulator of the higher education sector in England.

  • Erica Conway, Chair, British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG)

Possible questions include:

  • What is the nature of the OfS’ relationship with higher education providers? Does the OfS strike the right balance between working collaboratively with universities and providing robust challenge?
  • Does the OfS have sufficient powers, resources and expertise to meet its current duties?
  • What financial risks does the higher education sector face?

  • Rania Regaieg, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Director and President of the Students’ Union, University of the West of England (UWE)
  • Mack Marshall, Education Officer, Newcastle University Students’ Union

Possible questions include:

  • What is your students’ unions’ experience of engaging with the OfS?
  • Do you feel that mechanisms such as the Student Panel and the National Student Survey really drive the work of the OfS, and to what extent are students and students’ unions aware of them?
  • Is it clear how the OfS views the interests of students and to what extent is this driven by student input or political priorities?
