Legal experts to give evidence on Rwanda agreement

On Monday next week, the House of Lords International Agreements Committee will be holding its first evidence session as part of its inquiry into the UK-Rwanda treaty: provision of an asylum partnership.

Giving evidence will be:

  • Lord Anderson of Ipswich KBE KC
  • Prof Theodore Konstadinides – Professor of Law, University of Essex

Possible topics include:

  • The key issues in assessing whether the new Agreement addresses the concerns of the UK Supreme Court
  • The effectiveness of the enhanced monitoring and review process in the Agreement
  • The new asylum appeals process including international judges and independent experts
  • The dispute settlement mechanism.

The session will take place on Monday 18 December at 5pm and can be followed live on Parliament TV.
