Lord Cameron Foreign secretary to be questioned on the UK-EU relationship

At 3pm tomorrow, Thursday 14 December, the House of Lords European Affairs Committee, chaired by Lord Ricketts, will question the The Rt Hon. the Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs about a wide range of aspects of the UK-EU relationship.

This will be the first time the Foreign Secretary has appeared in front of a Lords Committee. The evidence session will be available to watch live or on demand on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 8, Palace of Westminster.

Questions will focus on the following topics:

  • The overall state of UK – EU relations following agreement of Windsor Framework.
  • UK-EU foreign and security policy cooperation.
  • European political community and the UK’s priorities for the next European Political Community summit, due to be held in the UK
  • Engagement with the EU in relation to the conflict in Ukraine.
  • UK-EU cooperation on sanctions against Russia, including enforcement and effectiveness.
  • Whether Ukraine becoming a member of the EU would be in the strategic interests of the UK.
  • Bilateral relationships with key European countries including France and Germany.
  • The Government's plans for negotiating youth mobility deals with EU countries.
  • The possibility of a link between the UK and EU Emissions Trading Schemes.
