Modern methods of construction inquiry: Housing Minister to give evidence

Monday 11 December 2023

At 10.45am on Tuesday 12 December 2023, as part of its inquiry on modern methods of construction (MMC), the House of Lords Built Environment Committee will hear evidence from:

  • Lee Rowley MP, Minister of State (Minister for Housing)
  • David Bridges, Chief Investments Officer, Homes England
  • Edward Jezeph, Senior Manager, Homes England.

Topics like to be covered in this session include:

  • How the Governments is measuring success in its ‘five-S’ strategy for MMC (scaling up, standardisation, safety and assurance, soft levels and stimulating the market).
  • The decision-making processes for investing in Ilke Homes and Urban Splash and subsequent loss of money for the taxpayer.
  • The potential for changes to building regulations.
  • Incentivising the greater use of MMC by making energy efficiency and net zero requirements more stringent for new homes.
  • A new MMC strategy.

This session, which is open to the public, will be held in Committee Room 3 of the House of Lords and streamed live on Parliament TV
