Ofwat CEO and Chair to give evidence to Lords water industry inquiry

The House of Lords Industry and Regulators Committee will continue its follow-up inquiry on the water industry, Ofwat and the role of the Government by taking evidence from Ofwat’s CEO David Black, and Chair Iain Coucher, from 4pm on Tuesday 4 July:

The session can be followed live on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 4, Palace of Westminster.

The session will cover a range of topics including:

  • Ofwat’s role in relation to the Government’s Plan for Water
  • The additional investment of £10bn recently pledged by water companies
  • The expected increase in customer bills to fund infrastructure investment
  • Introducing a single social tariff
  • Debt levels in the sector
  • Executive pay

At 3pm, prior to the session with Ofwat, the committee will take evidence from water company environmental representatives, to hear about nature-based solutions to water pollution.

Giving evidence will be:

  • Ruth Barden, Director of Environmental Solutions, Wessex Water
  • Sarah Jenner, Strategic Catchment Lead, United Utilities
