What are the risks associated with the development and implementation of AI weapons? Lords Committee takes evidence

At 11am on Thursday 29 June the Lords Artificial Intelligence in Weapons Systems Committee will take evidence on the risks posed by the development and implementation of AI Weapons Systems.
The Committee will hear from:

- Ms Taniel Yusef, Visiting Researcher at Centre for the Study of Existential Risk
- Professor Christian Enemark, Professor of International Relations at University of Southampton
The evidence session will be available to watch live or on demand on Parliamentlive.tv or in person in Committee Room 4, Palace of Westminster.
Question topics include:
- How likely that judgements on issues such as necessity or proportionality could reliably be delegated to machines, both now and in the future
- The potential for AI systems trained on biased datasets to replicate and exasperate those biases, including gender and racial bias
- Whether the development of open-source AI presents a national security risk, and how this should this be balanced against the potential benefits of open-source software development
- How the regulation or prohibition on AWS or the use of AI in defence could be more broadly practically enforced
