Children’s Commissioner gives evidence to Lords on the Children’s Social Care Strategy

Tuesday 28 March 2023

Tomorrow, Wednesday 29 March, the House of Lords Public Services Committee will hear from Dame Rachel de Souza, the Children’s Commissioner for England, as it holds its final evidence session on the review of the Children’s social care implementation strategy.

This short inquiry has been exploring how far the strategy addresses the challenges families and children in care face and how the strategy could be improved to better resolve the issues in the children’s care system.

The session will start at 3.00pm and can be watched live or on demand at Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 4, Palace of Westminster.

Questions for discussion will include:

  • What more could be done to ensure the voices of young people and families are listened to in the design of children’s care?
  • Are the Government taking the right steps and providing the right support to evaluate the pathfinder programmes?
  • Do leaders in children’s care services have the right levers to ensure other public services are doing enough to support young people and families?
