Lords open inquiry into secondary education system

The House of Lords Education for 11 - 16 Year Olds Committee will open its inquiry into the challenges and opportunities faced by the secondary education system in England by hearing from representatives of schools and education trusts.

The session can be followed live on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster on Thursday 23 March from 11.15am.

Giving evidence will be:

  • Kate Ambrosi, Director of Innovation and Learning, Baker Dearing Trust
  • Mark Marande, Principal, The Petersfield School, Bohunt Education Trust
  • Jamie Portman, Trust Instructional Lead, XP Trust, and former Principal of XP East
  • Carolyn Roberts, Head, Thomas Tallis School, and Co-Director, The PTI

Members will ask questions relating to:

  • overall approach to teaching and the curriculum
  • employer engagement
  • assessment
  • catering for pupils of all abilities
  • the school accountability system
  • general recommendations for the Committee.

The Committee’s call for evidence for the inquiry is open until Sunday 30 April. Details about how to submit evidence are available on the Committee’s website.
