Lords methane inquiry explores oil and gas emissions and mitigation

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will continue its inquiry into methane by exploring methane emissions and mitigation options in the oil and gas sector.
The session will take place on Wednesday 1 May from 9.45am. It can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room 3).
Giving evidence from 9.45am will be:
- Dave Whitehouse,CEO, Offshore Energies UK (OEUK);
- Rebecca Tremain, Head of UK Government Affairs, Clean Air Task Force.
Questions from the committee will cover the following areas:
- The current state of methane emissions in the fuel supply sector;
- Options for reducing methane emissions in the fuel supply sector;
- Enforcement and incentives for methane mitigation.
Giving evidence from 10.45am will be:
- Tom Wheeler, Director of Operations, North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA)
Questions from the committee will cover the following areas:
- The landscape for methane regulation in the fuel supply sector;
- Regulatory oversight of methane emissions;
- Regulatory activities supporting reductions of methane emissions;
- The upcoming ban on venting and flaring.
