Lords Preterm Birth Committee explores support for parents and families and international comparators

The House of Lords Preterm Birth Committee continues its inquiry by exploring international comparators, and support for parents and families.
The session can be followed live on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster on Monday 22 April from 3pm.
Giving evidence at 3pm on international comparators will be:
- Martine Jeukens-Visser, Research Associate, University of Amsterdam
- Professor John Newnham, Chair, Australian Preterm Birth Prevention Alliance and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Western Australia
- Professor Mikael Norman, Professor in Pediatrics & Neonatal Medicine, KarolinskaInstitute
Possible questions include:
- What are the preterm birth rates in your country or region? How have these changed over time?
- What is the approach to preventing preterm birth in your country or region?
- What follow-up care for preterm babies is offered in your country or region?
Giving evidence at 4pm on support for parents and families will be:
- Nadia Leake, author of Surviving Prematurity
- Francesca Segal, author of Mother Ship.
Members are expected to ask questions relating to the following topics:
- Care and support for parents and families during neonatal care;
- The long-term impact of preterm birth on babies and families;
- Transition to school for babies born preterm.
