Lords Liaison Committee recommend four new Committees for 2025

Friday 13 December 2024

The House of Lords Liaison Committee has recommended the House appoint four new special inquiry committees to undertake inquires and publish reports by 30 November 2025.

The Liaison Committee recommends the House establish new Committees to investigate:

  • The Autism Act 2009 – to undertake post-legislative scrutiny of the Act.
  • Home based working – to consider the effects and future development of home based working in the UK.
  • Social mobility policy - to consider how educational and work opportunities could be better integrated to improve social mobility in the UK.
  • UK engagement with Space - to consider UK policies relating to space, and both the opportunities and challenges related to the UK’s engagement with space.

It is expected the House will consider the recommendations to appoint the new Committees on Wednesday 18 December.

The Chair and members of the Committee will be appointed in the New Year. Once the Committees have been appointed they will meet and subsequently agree a Call for Evidence setting out the scope of their inquiries and the key issues they are seeking evidence on.

The Liaison Committee report recommending the new committees is available online on its webpage.
