Energy Security Minister Graham Stuart to be questioned on Government’s long-duration energy storage targets

At 10:00 on Tuesday 16 January, the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will question Graham Stuart MP Minister of State at Department for Energy Security and Net Zero as it concludes its inquiry into long-duration energy storage. 

The public evidence session will take place in Committee Room 3 Palace of Westminster and can be viewed in person or live on Parliament TV

Question topics will include: 

  • Understanding the scale and nature of the UK’s energy storage needs 

  • The Government’s current hydrogen policy and investment plans for hydrogen 

  • The Government’s business model for long duration energy storage and how this will be funded 

  • Community involvement and public consultation of future energy storage plans 

  • The urgency and pace of action to ensure long-duration storage is ready for a decarbonised grid in 2035 

  • The role of bodies such as the Future System Operator, Ofgem and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero in leading on the deployment of long duration energy storage.
