Lords Committee takes evidence from senior Government officials across departments dealing with Education, Health and Work and Pensions

On Wednesday 17 January, the House of Lords Public Services Committee will hear from Government officials in an evidence session that will aim to get an updated picture of the Government’s activities supporting young disabled people during the transition from education to employment.
Discussions will include progress updates relating to the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and Alternative Provision Plan and the Government’s Back to Work Plan and Universal Support scheme.
The session will start at 3.00pm and can be watched live or on demand at Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 3, Palace of Westminster.
Giving evidence will be:
- Hannah Sheehan, Director, Skills Journey Directorate, Department for Education (DfE);
- Elizabeth Franey: Deputy Director, SEND and Alternative Provision, System Outcomes and Experiences Division, DfE;
- Jennifer Heigham, Deputy Director, Strategy & Briefing, The Joint Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Work & Health Directorate, DWP; and
- Keith Roberts, Deputy Director, Disability & Work Opportunities, The Joint DWP and DHSC Work & Health Directorate, DWP.
Topics for discussion will include:
- Transition support for young disabled people in education
- Links between departments and services
- Supporting disabled people to access and stay in work
- Support and incentives available for employers.
