Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee begins methane inquiry

The House of Lords Environment and Climate Change Committee will open its inquiry into methane by hearing from leading academics and specialists on Wednesday 13 March.
The session will take place from 10am. It can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in the Palace of Westminster (committee room 3).
Giving evidence will be:
- Professor Piers Forster, Interim Chair of the Climate Change Committee
- Professor David Reay, Edinburgh Climate Change Institute
- Professor Myles Allen, Oxford Martin School, University of Oxford
- Dr Fiona O’Connor, Science Fellow and Scientific Manager of the Atmospheric Composition and Climate Team, Met Office
- Louise Burrows, Climate and Energy Diplomacy Lead for the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance.
Questions from the committee will cover the following areas:
- Current climate change data and reporting;
- Overview of methane and its role in climate change and global warming;
- Greenhouse gas accounting and metrics;
- Overview of international commitments and the Global Methane Pledge;
- UK progress on methane.
