Michelle Donelan to be questioned by Lords Science and Technology Committee

The House of Lords Science and Technology Committee will question Michelle Donelan MP, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology on Tuesday 12 March, from 11am.
The one-off session can be followed live on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 2, Palace of Westminster.
Members questions are likely to include:
- What progress has been made to date on the Science and Technology Framework, the Government’s science and technology strategy, a year since the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology was set up?
- What is the Government doing to support startups to commercialise ideas and scale up into larger companies?
- What actions are you taking to coordinate with other Government departments to ensure science has a voice at the highest level and deliver on cross-departmental issues such as using public procurement to support innovation?
- Has the promised cross-government action plan on skills been developed? When can we expect to see it and what is the Government doing to address the skills deficits in the UK?
- What regulations or safeguards will be put in place before AI is used in Government?
- What measures is Government taking to ensure sufficient funding of scientific research in universities?
