Data and digital trade inquiry launched by Lords

Tomorrow the House of Lords International Agreements Committee will be holding its first evidence session as part of a short inquiry into data and digital trade.
Giving evidence will be:
- Chris Southworth, Secretary General, International Chamber of Commerce
- Sabina Ciofu, Associate Director (International), techUK
- Emily Jones, Associate Professor, Blavatnik School of Public Policy, University of Oxford
- Séamus Nevin, Chief Economist and Acting Policy Director, MakeUK.
Topics the committee is likely to address include:
- The importance of data and digital trade to overall trade policy
- The overlap of international agreements and domestic regulation
- The UK Government’s success to date in supporting digital trade in its international agreements
- Steps the Government could take to develop its support of the digital aspect of all trade
- How international agreements or domestic regulation have contributed to trade facilitation via the digitisation of trade documents, e-invoicing, e-contracts etc.
- Stakeholder engagement in the development and implementation of digital trade agreements.
The session will take place on Tuesday 14 May at 5pm and can be followed live on Parliament TV.
