Friday 10 May 2024

The House of Lords Preterm Birth Committee continues its inquiry by hearing from integrated care boards (ICBs).

The session can be followed live or afterwards on Parliament TV or in person in Committee Room 2, Palace of Westminster on Monday 13 May from 3.15pm.

Giving evidence will be:

  • Caroline Lacy, LMNS Clinical Programme Lead, NHS Somerset ICB;
  • Catherine McClennan, Director of Women’s Health and Maternity Programme and LMNS Senior Responsible Officer, NHS Cheshire and Merseyside ICB;
  • Sam Pretlove, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Birmingham Women and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and NHS Birmingham and Solihull.

Possible questions include:

  • What plans do you have in place to reduce the rate of preterm birth in your region, including through public health initiatives?
  • What is the role of ICBs in tackling the socio-economic and ethnic disparities seen in relation to preterm birth rates and outcomes?
  • How does your ICB optimise care for mothers at risk of preterm birth and their babies, and ensure the consistent delivery of national guidance relating to preterm birth?
