Business and Trade Secretary to be quizzed by Lords committee

On Monday the House of Lords International Agreements Committee will be taking evidence from the Department for Business and Trade, with a focus on international trade.

Giving evidence will be:

  • The Rt Hon Jonathan Reynolds MP, Secretary of State for Business and Trade and President of the Board of Trade
  • Amanda Brooks, Director General for Trade Policy, Implementation and Negotiations in the Department for Business and Trade

Topics the committee is likely to cover include:

  • The new Government’s general priorities and objectives around international trade
  • The general state of play on the main Free Trade Agreement negotiations, and which ones are making progress
  • The Government’s ambitions for CPTPP and priorities under the General Review
  • Use of digital partnerships, and international cooperation on issues such as data governance or regulation
  • Main priorities in forging a trade relationship with the new US administration
  • How the Department works with other government departments to further its objectives
  • Extent of UK Government support to the continuing functioning of the World Trade Organization.

The session will take place on Monday 18 November at 4:00pm and can be followed on Parliament TV.
